Rubber

Glue Application
The project consisted to conceive, develop and manufacture an automatic machine applying adhesive to rubber belting going on avoid-break of car. Once the adhesive applied, a station of artificial vision detected the level of affixed adhesive. The system of cameras was to be able to detect if the adhesive were laid out at the good places and in sufficient quantity, without however exceeding the allowed limit.

The difficulty of the project was that the adhesive applied was transparent and black bands. It was thus very complex to detect the level of adhesive. The system includes:

  • a loading station (done by an operator)
  • a glue application station
  • a artificial vision station
  • an oven (for the drying of the glue)
  • and an unloading station (done by an operator)

Gaskets Cutter
This machine was designed to cut gaskets used for automobile windshields. Following the insertion of a primary gasket, the equipment cuts two strips that will serve to assemble the finished seal. The gaskets are cut at one extremity at an angle of 45˚ and at the other at a right angle.

CNC cutting grooves
This machine was designed for engrave grooves in rubber belting being used for the printing sector. The models of bands can vary, as well as the variation between each groove. The whole is modifiable in the interface operator.

The conveyors were designed to facilitate operator manipulation of trays. Due to the large meat packs, the weight could easily be too much for many operators. The goal was to design and manufacture a system of conveyors that allowed for a 90˚ pivot of the food trays so that they could arrive to the palletization station ready to be wrapped.

Ergonomics

Ergonomic tables
The ergonomic tables were designed to make it possible for the client operators to work in assembly line. In a preoccupation with a quality of work for the operators, Solution GRB designed the tables in order to correspond to the work method of various workers, while enabling them to adjust them with various heights. They can each lift up to 250 pounds.

Designed for the pharmaceutical industry, this machine permits the insertion of a product, fabric, gas or liquid into a small sac, then sealing it.

The project consisted of removing from a deodorant a capsule that kept it standing upright. Previously, this operation was performed by humans. In order to save time and money, our client called upon Solution GRB to remedy the situation.

At the outset, our client wished to procure a robotic system. Solution GRB evaluated the situation, recommending a dedicated machine instead. It was a success. This solution was more multipurpose and more cost efficient than the first solution proposed.

Robot welding
Robotics cell with two interchangeable tools used to weld by points electric cases. The transporting inside the cell is done by using a conveyor. The robot takes the part on the entry conveyor, positions it in a gauge, carries out welding and transport the finish product on the exit conveyor.

Prefabricated Wall

Framing Table
This station manufactures the frame of the walls, in a semi-automatic way. An operator feeds the raw material station manually. The positioning of the raw material as well as the nailing of the frame is done automatically.

Framing Table
Wall covering system (robotized)
The project consisted to conceive, develop and manufacture a robotized station being used with the installation of wall covering on the framing of the wall. The autonomy of the station is more than 1 000 linear feet (on a shift of 8 hours work). An access by lifting truck is arranged, for the raw material supply.

Nailing Station:

The wall enters the station covered with sheets. The nailing is completely automated. According to the data entered the software, the machine nail at the good places on the surface of the wall. Moreover, the distance between the nails is modifiable.

Router station:

In optimized input time with the nailing of the wall, the router cutting excess of sheets all around the frame. Thereafter, it cuts out the openings necessary in the wall (window, door, catch and light opening, etc). The station is 100% automated, has a precision of 1/16" and is able to cut out the openings in a horizontal, vertical and oblique way.

Automatised nailing and router
Laths laying
This project was completed with monetary collaboration of National Research Council of Canada. (NRC)

The project’s objective was to automate and robotize the rate for the laying and nailing of laths on prefabricated walls.

  • Horizontal and vertical handling of the laths
  • 8 strategically placed suction cups
  • 4 nail guns placed on the robot tool in order to minimize operation time
  • Triangulation method in order to locate the tool’s position vis-à-vis the base of the robot
  • 4 laser pointers and a camera for a maximum of precision

Plastic

Leak Tester

This machine was custom designed for our client in the Eastern Townships. For three different types of plastic car reservoirs it :

  • Validates the tightness of the part’s seal
  • Engraves the serial number
  • Checks for incompletes (shortshots), there are two per part
  • Performs a flow test in order to check if any passageways are obstructed
  • Directs the part to the packing station

Further, for one of the three reservoirs, the machine allows for:

  • The insertion of hoses (2)
  • Validating the presence and the proper positioning of plugs and the label, thanks to computer vision

Multifunction machine that applies a bar code and hermetically seals plastic containers. Once the process is completed, a leak detection test is performed on the parts to ensure the greatest possible quality control.

The eZee 600 was designed to cut corrugated cardboard inro rolls 60’’wide, to the length desired by the operator.  A serrated wheel punches the cardboard, making perforations. The operator can then decide to tear the cardboard or keep its full width.
